Here's how it works

Step 1

You email me about your idea, include some pictures and the type of artwork you want. If there is a specific date you’d like the piece by, please include that in the email too.

Step 2

I’ll email back, to let you know whether I’m available to make this commission. I’ll also ask to schedule a meeting with you, whether it’s virtual, over text or in person. I like to work with my clients before starting a commission, so that we can both get a good sense of what the piece will look like.

Step 3

During the meeting, we’ll discuss the size, the colors, the subject/image, etc. I’ll have my sketchbook with me and draw out some quick thumbnail sketches so we can both get an idea of what the piece will look like. We will also discuss price during this meeting. I charge for my time, the cost of materials, the complexity of the piece and shipping costs (if the piece is being shipped).

Step 4

After the meeting, I’ll send a studio sketch of the piece I would make and wait for your approval. A studio sketch is basically a small black and white sketch of the painting. It would be much more refined than the thumbnail sketches and give you a clear idea of what the piece would look like. If there are any changes, suggestions or adjustments to be made, now is the time to let me know! Once finalized, I’ll send you a digitized version of the sketch for final approval and your records.

Step 5

Once I receive your approval, a Commission Agreement will be sent to you with an estimate and a written description of the piece. I’ll need to receive the signed and completed Commission Agreement along with a 50% deposit, before I start working on the piece.

Step 6

Now the painting starts! I’ll send you in-progress photos to make sure that the piece is going according to the plan. Feel free to suggest any minor adjustments or changes!

Step 7

Once the painting is complete, I’ll send you a picture of the painting and an invoice for the balance due. Only after I’ve received the second 50% of the payment, will the piece be shipped or delivered to you.
